How did medieval daimyos counter the power of shoguns?

How did medieval daimyos counter the power of shoguns? (A-they controlled tax and government spending; B-they promoted democracy; C-owned land and peasants; D-other)
These are the multiple choices from a standardized test so the answer should be one of the three; if not, pick D and explain :) . Thanks in advance!

C – the daimyos controlled the land and the population

Where did the popular medieval fantasy genre come from?

I’ve noticed that many works ranging from Game of Thrones to Skyrim are spins off of a medieval world with magic and traditionally legendary creatures like dragons, elves, and fairies. Many older works also incorporate those same aspects. Since actual medieval people obviously did not live among dwarves or unicorns, what is the origin of this connection between the Middle Ages and fantasy? And where did these customary fantasy creatures come from as well?

The deepest origins of the genre are in folklore and mythology, particularly Germanic and Celtic. This includes things like the Nibelungenlied, the Kalevala, the Poetic Edda, the various Irish tales of characters like Oisín and Cu Chulain. As far as modern writing, most credit J. R. R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) and C. S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia) as major figures in creating the modern fantasy genre.

What are 5 interesting facts about the medieval torture device the stocks?

I have a school project and I need 5 interesting facts about the medieval torture device the stocks, and can you type where you got the info please?

1) The stocks partially immobilised its victims and they were often exposed in a public place such as the site of a market to the scorn of those who passed by.

2) Since the purpose was to punish offenders against the standards of conduct of the time, anybody could assault, revile or aim filth at the victim.

3) …when a person is placed in the stocks, their feet are locked in place, and sometimes as well their hands or head, or these may be chained. With stocks, boards are placed around the legs or the wrists.

4) Since stocks served an outdoor public form of punishment its victims were subjected to the daily and nightly weather.

5) It was not uncommon for people kept in stocks over several days in winter to die of hypothermia.

Good names for story?

i’m making a story that takes place in a midieval age. with dragons and princesses and all that other good stuff. my story has a romantic side cuz i’m actually making it for my boyfriend. but it also has a action side with war and battles. i want it to be about a princess that falls in love with a knight that came from a poor, sad lifestyle. unlike her who has spent all her life as royalty. through war and many other events they come to love each other and fight for each other even though its forbidden. i’ve been searching the internet for anything that might help me with naming the story. but i can’t find anything. i want something that is beautiful but also relates to the story. can someone help me!?

Ums ums ums umssssss….. A Knight for the Princess, A Princess for a Knight, a Knight of a Princess. I don’t know. It’d be easier to title it if you gave a little more about the plot

How would you impress the king? If you were transported back to ….let’s say mideival (sp?) Europe. And?

you somehow could speak the language where you happened to be. How would you use your (modern) knowledge of science…to impress the court and so they’d think you were a magician …and then they’d not kill you. (Or maybe they would, cuz they’d be afraid of your "powers"). This scene is an old standard in old movies, by the way. And predicting eclipses doesn’t count. However, if you are an authority on midieval european history…perhaps you could predict some historical "outcomes." Battles, for ex.

I’m afraid that people they thought were magicians were the first people they were likely to set on fire back in those days.

Can the Sims Midieval pc game be installed and played on it’s own?

Or do I have to have another game installed in order to play it,like Sims 3?I want to make sure before I buy it that I don’t have to buy something else to make it work.

Sims midieval is a stand alone game in the sims series. It is not an addon and has no requirements to play

Midieval Movie with black sidekick?

It was made a while ago, either in the 80′s or 90′s, and all I can remember about the movie is the main character had a black sidekick who was funny and later killed by a large evil knight that was covered head to toe in armor, near the later part of the movie there is a group in a tavern with dwarfs and a map is sucked into a map, and at the end of the movie the main character either breaks or gets this glass orb looking thing that holds a lot of power….

Is this story idea too much like Harry Potter?

I got this really cool story idea the other day and I wanted to start writing it. However, upon second glance I realised it’s a bit similar to Harry Potter. I am a fan of the series and even read fanfiction so I guess it was inspired by that. But I don’t want people to say I copied it because I really didn’t. In a way I did, but not really. Anyhow, I want your guys’ honest opinion on whether or not this seems too much like Harry Potter. It’s basically a fantasy adventure series called "The Wand Maker’s Apprentice".

It’s set in a midieval-aged fantasy world filled with all sorts of traditional fantasy creatures. There, all humans are either wizards or witches and there are many magic schools throughout the kingdom. The parents of the hero of the story are really famous because they saved the kingdom in their youth from a dragon or something and are like celebrities. Anyhow, the main character goes to the Magic school only to discover that he does not have a single drop of magical blood in him.

Naturally, this is a huge disgrace because he’s not a wizard. He’s spared from becoming an outcast though by the friendly old Wand Maker who crafts wands for wizards and witches. He owes the hero’s parents a favour so he takes him as his apprentice since you don’t really need magic to make wands, just the know-how. The book (attempt) chronicles the adventures of the main character as he goes about getting ingredients from wild places and some normal places for different wands. He also discovers that someone else is beating him to the ingredients in an attempt to craft a Master Wand.

Well that’s about it. The boy is only 12 or so, so there won’t be romance in this book but there won’t only be guys of course as I’m not sexist. That’s just the very basic core plot and I was wondering what you all think of it. Is it too much like Harry Potter? Should I trash it and think of something else? Or should I start writing it? I’ve already formulated most of the plot but I have yet to put it on paper since I want to avoid copyright infringement.

Well that’s about it. Comments and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
Yeah, there will be girls and women in the story of course! And one will probably become his friend if not his best friend but I didn’t have room to type that. There will definitly be girls involved as well.

No, thats different enough, go for it. You say no romance because he is 12 but I think you should have a similar aged girl in there, who becomes close, like a best friend or something.

What were the meanings of each individual color in the midieval times/middle ages?

what did each specific color mean

What makes you think that colors had symbolic meanings? More importantly: what makes you think that everyone agreed on the symbolic meanings of colors? Naturally, people from different cultures would associate (or even assign, if there actually was some standard) different symbolic meanings with different colors.

Here you can see a *few* examples of the symbolism of "red" in different cultures, time periods and contexts:
